Dr. Robert M. Hicks
Dr. Robert Hicks is a retired Air Force Chaplain of 32 years and currently a professor of history and ethics at Bellhaven University in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Hicks was also the former deputy director for the Civil Air Patrol (the Air Force auxiliary). He also served as an instructor at the USAF Air War College & Chaplain Service Institute at Maxwell AFB and has been a curriculum consultant to the Air University, a published author and a renowned event speaker.
As a reserve officer, Dr. Robert Hicks holds the rank of Colonel and has served in the Air National Guard for over 30 years. His last military assignment was a special tour for the Alabama National Guard Headquarters where he oversaw Chaplain support activities for over 15,000 Army & Air National Guardsmen. Dr. Hicks has also held academic professorships at Bethel Seminary of the East in Philadelphia, Dallas Theological Seminary, and International College in Hawaii.
In 1987, Dr. Hicks co-founded Life Counseling Services, a professional counseling center in the Philadelphia suburbs. As a nationally known conference speaker and seminar leader, he has spoken at National Promisekeepers conferences and done extensive work with the military, law enforcement, civilian disaster organizations, and veteran groups.
As a distinguished author of over ten books, Dr. Hicks has given over 350 radio and television interviews which include appearances on National Public Radio, The Art of Family Living, CTV Network (Pittsburgh), TV 38 (Chicago), USA Radio Network, The Wellness Channel, the 700 Club, Family Life Today, and the ABC network.
Dr. Hicks holds degrees in Psychology, Theology and National Security Studies. Post-doctoral work includes Religious Studies at Villanova University and European History at Rollins College. He has studied in Israel and served as visiting professor at overseas colleges and universities. (Bolivia, Australia, Fiji, Canada, Ukraine, Israel, Romania, Kenya)
As an Air Force officer, Dr. Hicks is a graduate of the USAF Air War College Residence program, Academic Instructor School, Critical Incident Stress, Combat Ministry and Senior Chaplain Courses. As an Air National Guard Chaplain, Dr. Hicks is a noted resource on the subjects of “Traumatic Stress” and “Religious Extremism”. In 1986, he was nominated “Chaplain of the Year” by the American Legion, an award given by President Ronald Reagan. He is awarded, “Who’s Who in the East”, “Who’s Who in American Religion”, and “Who’s Who in American Education”.
Dr. Hicks resides in Central Florida and has been married for over 47 years. In his spare time, Robert enjoys reading and being an FAA rated pilot.

Military Biography
Colonel Robert M. Hicks, USAF (Retired)
Chaplain, Colonel Robert Hicks spent his last military tour as Joint Force Chaplain at the Alabama National Guard Headquarters overseeing all Chaplain support activities for over 15,000 Army and Air National Guardsmen. Colonel Hicks is a professor of History and Ethics at Belhaven University in Orlando, Florida. He has also served as subject matter expert to the USAF Air University and law enforcement organizations.
Colonel Hicks was commissioned an officer in the United States Air Force Reserve in 1979. He has served the 201st Combat Communications Group, Hickam AFB, HI; the 136th Tactical Airlift Wing, Dallas NAS, TX; the 111th Fighter Wing, Willow Grove, NAS, PA; the 125th Fighter Wing, Jacksonville IAP, FL, and geographically separated units at Patrick and MacDill AFB. Colonel Hicks has deployed for national and foreign operations.
As a Chaplain, Hicks has worked for Sentry Cowboy (Mississippi) and Operation Distant Hammer (Spain), given Islamic culture briefings and causality notifications during Operation Desert Storm, served counter-drug operations in South America during Operation Constant Vigil, and participated in deployments to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Mediterranean and Middle-East. Chaplain Hicks has ministered to combat injured from Iraq and Afghanistan at Landstuhl Medical Center, Germany and also stateside for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In 2010, Colonel Hicks deployed to Romania as a member of a National Guard team instructing at the Romanian Military Medical College giving briefs on Religious Terrorism & Critical Incident Response. More recently, he has conducted workshops for Ukranian & Kenyan Defense Force personnel.
In August 1985, Chaplain Hicks coordinated the ministry to families and survivors of the Delta 191 crash at Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport. He was nominated for the American Legion’s “Chaplain of the Year” award presented by President Reagan for his work. Military awards include: AF Meritorious Service, AF Commendation and Achievement Medals, AF Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism and the Army Achievement Medal. Colonel Hicks holds numerous commendations from various local, state and national agencies as well as State National Guard Awards.
